More about
Roy Murdoch

This journey is about challenge, friendship, and pushing beyond comfort zones.

I’ve spent over 20 years in the cybersecurity industry, working for one of the world’s leading companies to help protect people and their data. When I’m not focused on security, you’ll usually find me on a bike. Cycling has always been my way of testing myself — from relaxed rides with friends to lining up for the next sportive and seeing how far I can go.

Riding from Land’s End to John o’Groats has long been on my bucket list. So when my great friend Al suggested we take it on together, there was no hesitation. This site is about that journey — the miles, the challenges, the laughs, and the unforgettable experience of taking on LEJOG together.

Reasons why I am raising money for charity?

In 2024, everything changed. A life-threatening cycling accident left me broken, vulnerable, and forced to confront how close I had come to losing everything. At the same time, I was grieving the loss of a dear friend to cancer. In the stillness of recovery - between pain, reflection, and gratitude for simply being alive - I gained a clarity I had never known before. I realised that survival carried responsibility. I chose to turn trauma into purpose, committing to LEJOG as a way to honour life, remember Lisa that we lost far too soon, and actively contribute to the fight against cancer.
