The Roy-Al
team support

Mark Cockram - I’ve had the privilege of serving in the RAF and City of London police for 33 years and am now happily retired in a quiet corner of Dartmoor living village life. I love the outdoors so it’s perfect for me.

I’ve known Al for over 30 years and although I’ve only just met Roy they are clearly cut from the same cloth.

With that in mind when they told me what they were up to I realised immediately they would need a grown up on board for support and offered to help.

I’ve done cancer, twice now, lost my sister to it, seen my Dad go through it and lost friends, good friends, to it and anything that helps beat its menace gets my vote and having seen the suffering sepsis brings I can’t think of two better causes.

Oh, and, I don’t actually have to ride, I’ll leave that to the two mentalist machines.

Robert Halliday - My name is Robert "Happy" Halliday, I am originally from Port Glasgow and I served in the Royal Air Force for 23 years and that is where I met Al nearly 40 years ago. I now live on the Isle of Bute on the West coast of Scotland . The charities that we are supporting are very close to our hearts as the dark shadow has visited our homes too many times. I lost my sister Ruby and very recently my cousin Tom and his daughter Donna, and as we set out both my wife Margaret and my cousin Linda are cancer survivors. So as soon as Al mentioned that he was thinking of doing the cycle and trek I had no hesitation in adding my support as the Scottish contingent and translator.
